The Texas Institute for Excellence in Mental Health (TIEMH), at the University of Texas at Austin (UTA), in partnership with the Texas System of Care Consortium, requests applications from communities interested in demonstrating a System of Care service delivery approach for children and youth with serious emotional disturbances. State agencies partnering with the System of Care Consortium include Texas Department of State Health Services, Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, Texas Juvenile Justice Department, Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments, Texas Medicaid, Texas Health and Human Services Commission, and Texas Education Agency. Authority to conduct this demonstration is through a federal grant project through the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) grant opportunity #1U79SM061219-01 and Texas Government Code, Section 531.251. The recently amended statute moves toward statewide implementation of what has been demonstrated and expounded through a comprehensive strategic plan through a system of care framework approach. The RFP will be released January 13, 2015. The deadline for applying is February 23, 2015 by 5:00 PM CST.
